When the US Tennis Association called ‘new courts please’ in 2020, they chose Laykold and we became the first new supplier and installer of the event’s courts in 42 years.
The US Open is known for being the fastest hard-court tournament in professional tennis, with tournament organizers and players demanding precise pace on both practice and competition courts (43 courts in total). In elite tennis, the one who strikes first, and strikes hardest, wins. The first four shots – serve, return, each player’s next shot – are crucial to First Strike Tennis. Laykold measures speed consistency in decimal points, whereas other courts use whole numbers.
